What is a bioclimatic pergola
A bioclimatic pergola is an aluminium structure with a roof of adjustable louvres. Turned open, the louvres let warm air escape and daylight in, so the space below stays cooler than under a solid roof. Turned shut, they seal against each other with gaskets and form a watertight roof, and rain runs off through gutters hidden in the frame and down the posts.
In the US the same product is usually called a louvered pergola, in the UK and Australia a louvre roof. ACURA is our range of aluminium bioclimatic pergolas for restaurant and hotel terraces, rooftop bars and private villas, driven by Somfy motors and controlled from a remote or a smart home system.
Five ACURA models
All models share the same aluminium frame, powder coated in any RAL colour, with integrated drainage and Samsung LED lighting. They differ in how the roof works.

Larger terraces are covered with several modules side by side. The number of modules is not limited.
How the louvres open
On the ACURA Q25 Premium the louvres rotate and slide together, like a pair of scissors, and clear 85% of the roof. It is the model for large restaurant terraces and pool decks where guests want open sky on a warm evening.
On the ACURA Q27 Twist each louvre turns 90 degrees on its axis. When it closes, Differential Tech turns the panel along its circumference and presses it against the seal of the next one, so the roof shuts tight.
The static models have no motor. Statico is a closed, sealed louvre roof; Lamella keeps the louvres fixed open for shade and airflow; Q27 Paretti replaces the louvres with a sealed glass roof.
Installation options
Freestanding
Four or more posts, anywhere on a terrace, garden or rooftop.
Wall-mounted
Fixed to the facade on one side, posts on the other.
Suspended
Hung from the building structure where posts are not wanted.
Without posts
Frame mounted into an existing opening or structure.

Lighting, screens and side glazing
Samsung LED lighting is built into the beams, with an RGB option on the Q25 Premium. The sides of an ACURA pergola can be closed to make a room that works in every season: VITO ZIP motorised zip screens for shade and wind, SKYLINE automatic guillotine glazing for restaurant fronts, ORIZZONTE frameless sliding glazing for terraces.

Bioclimatic pergola: frequently asked questions
Is a bioclimatic pergola waterproof?
Yes, when the louvres are closed. Seals between the louvres and the integrated gutters make the roof watertight, and rain drains through the posts.
What is the difference between a bioclimatic and a louvered pergola?
It is the same product. Bioclimatic pergola is the European name, louvered pergola is used in the US, louvre roof in the UK and Australia.
How big can one ACURA module be?
Up to 9 000 × 4 000 mm on the ACURA Q25 Premium and 7 000 × 4 000 mm on the Q27 models. Larger areas are covered with several modules side by side.
What snow load does ACURA carry?
220–250 kg/m², depending on the model and the spans.
Can ACURA be controlled from a smart home system?
Yes. The Somfy drive works from a handheld remote and connects to smart home systems.
How long does installation take?
One module is assembled in about four hours on a prepared base.
